Multi-Functional Platform for Manufacturing Systems
Funding Program: TÜBİTAK 1509 – International Industrial R&D Projects Support Program
Manufacturing companies continuously invest in new technologies to improve productivity and deliver high-quality products to their customers. These investments are typically planned based on projected peak production capacity, resulting in production systems designed for maximum output. As new products and projects are introduced, manufacturers often face two major challenges: limited factory floor space and increasing capital investment costs associated with dedicated production equipment.
In many cases, automation systems designed for peak production remain underutilized during the early and late stages of a product's lifecycle, reducing overall operational efficiency. The MUWO project addresses these challenges by developing innovative solutions that improve manufacturing flexibility and optimize the utilization of production resources.
The project aims to create a multi-functional manufacturing workspace that enables rapid transitions between manual and automated production processes. It also develops intelligent hardware interfaces and modular tools that can be seamlessly integrated into existing manufacturing systems without extensive infrastructure changes.
To maximize production efficiency, MUWO combines artificial intelligence, machine learning, simulation technologies, production planning, and decision support systems to determine the optimal configuration for each manufacturing scenario. By integrating these technologies into a unified software platform, the project enables manufacturers to increase flexibility, reduce investment costs, improve equipment utilization, and accelerate the adoption of smart manufacturing practices.
