Educational and Research Mobile Robot Platform

The objective of this project is to develop an international-standard mobile robot platform for education and research in intelligent vehicles and autonomous robotic systems.

Research in intelligent vehicles relies on a wide range of hardware and software architectures. Regardless of whether the platform operates indoors or outdoors, core subsystems—including high-level control, low-level control, perception, and sensor integration—form the foundation of autonomous robotic applications. High-level control is responsible for mission planning, task execution, and autonomous decision-making, while low-level control manages vehicle dynamics and trajectory tracking.

The proposed platform is equipped with essential sensors—including ultrasonic sensors, laser range finders (LiDAR), and cameras—as well as the electronic hardware required for both high-level and low-level control. To ensure interoperability with modern robotics research and development, the platform is fully compatible with the Robot Operating System (ROS), the internationally recognized standard framework for robotic software development.

The project also includes the development of practical experiments and educational materials designed to teach the fundamental concepts of mobile robotics through hands-on learning. A key innovation of the platform is its support for remote access, enabling students and researchers to conduct experiments and training sessions from anywhere. This capability significantly increases accessibility for large classrooms and collaborative research environments.

By combining advanced capabilities with a cost-effective design, the platform aims to provide an affordable alternative to comparable international solutions while serving as a flexible foundation for future mobile robotics research, education, and real-world autonomous applications.
