RF-Based Indoor Positioning System

Funding Program: TÜBİTAK 1511 – Priority Areas Research, Technology Development, and Innovation Projects Support Program

Indoor positioning remains one of the most challenging problems across many industries, with no universally accepted solution available today. The RFKON project addresses this challenge by developing an advanced RF-based Indoor Positioning System designed to deliver accurate, reliable, and scalable location services in indoor environments.

The RFKON platform combines software and hardware components tailored to different industrial use cases. To support the widespread use of mobile devices, the project includes GezKon, a mobile application that leverages existing RF technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to provide indoor positioning and navigation. Where higher accuracy is required, additional positioning signals can be integrated to further enhance performance.

For applications requiring high-precision localization—such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), mobile robots, and other intelligent equipment—the project also develops HasKon, an embedded positioning system that combines RF signals with passive localization sensor data. The RFKON platform incorporates advanced technologies including multi-source data fusion, intelligent positioning algorithms, environment learning, classification, and automated calibration to deliver robust and accurate indoor localization.

Since its establishment, our company has successfully completed several TÜBİTAK-supported R&D projects focused on ultrasonic indoor positioning, satellite-based outdoor positioning enhancement, and integrated localization technologies. The RFKON project represents a key milestone in our long-term technology roadmap, extending our expertise into next-generation radio frequency-based indoor positioning solutions for industrial applications.
